NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS FANS

"19-0 baby! Yeah!"

You know how when a team wins a major sporting event, they instantly throw on their "BRISBANE BRONCOS 2006 NRL CHAMPIONS" or "CHICAGO BULLS THREE-PEAT" t-shirts and caps? Ever wondered what happens to the merchandise the losing team had printed stating they're the champs? Well, wonder no more! World Vision sends the gear to third world countries to help out the needy (and to keep the stuff off eBay). If you want a New England Patriots 19-0 tee, head on over to Diriamba, Nicaragua and see what you can negotiate with one of the locals. I'm still kicking myself for not putting a lazy $50 on the damn New York Giants.

GET NAKED

The last music post was Young Buck's The Strip Club (I'm not counting the Kylie one, although I'd like her to do what this track says...) so this follows on nicely - Get Naked by Hot Dollar. This dude has been putting out crazy amounts of dopeness lately, and most of his stuff is made for the clubs. If you like the uptempo fly style of hip-hop like Snoop's Sexual Eruption then you'll love this. Dude is signed to Def Jam, so Universal Music Australia, please release Hot Dollar locally (seriously, there's more to the "urban" market than Fergie and 50). Oh, and this track was on the latest XO PODCAST as well so make sure you grab that too.

KYLIE MINOGUE - ALL I SEE REMIX

I'm still not sure if this song is real or some bizarre mashup, but I'm leaning towards it being real. Maybe this is where Kylie becomes the next Mariah. All she needs to do from here is a track with Lil Wayne, T-Pain and some East Coast guy... maybe Jadakiss or Fabolous. Anyway, listen to the track All I See remix feat. MIMS.

THE STRIP CLUB

You'll hear this track Wednesday on the XO PODCAST, but I gotta post it on its own earlier because it's that hot. New track from Young Buck, The Strip Club. Here's hoping it's on the next edition of XXX Hip Hop!

VOTE FOR LEON PART DEUX

The winning ticket

Listen to my main man Barack Obama - go and vote for me in the STARCENTRAL MAGAZINE AWARDS! You can vote once a day and the voting ends late March so get your vote on!

P.S. Obama rules.

P.P.S. Check out the official Obama 08 theme song.

THE GRIND

It's the cool thing to hate G-Unit at the moment, so I'm going to do the too-cool-to-be-cool thing and post up an old Unit track, The Grind. Hearing stuff like this makes me miss doing warmup sets at clubs like Gas where you could play some cool-ass shit early in the night while drinking a bucketful of Heinekens.

2008 NBL MVP - EBI ERE

Newley, why did you jump?

Seriously, if Ebi Ere doesn't win the 2008 NBL MVP, the NBL will instantly lose half of its fan base (ie. me - I'm sure there's at least one other NBL fan out there. Right? Guys? Hello?).

Besides, could you see this guy in the Hummer H3 that the MVP will get? Son is already rolling in his Proton sitting on 14" rims!

Here's some snippets from an interview I did with Ebi for my website and PBT waaaaay back in 2004 when he was in his first NBL season with the Sydney Kings. He's one of the more interesting dudes in the NBL, quiet but with a lot to say at the same time.

OK...
How many questions are you asking?

A couple, shouldn't take longer than 15 minutes.
Fifteen minutes? Damn! What kind of interview is this...Sunday Conversation?

This is a potential... [I was trying to tell him it was a potential cover story for PBT, which it turned out to be - DJLS]
Damn, who do you think you are, Andy Katz?

OK, how are you enjoying the season so far?
I'm feeling good. We're number one on what you call the ladder, that's all you can ask for at this stage of the season.

What's the toughest aspect in adjusting from NCAA basketball to the NBL?
The toughest adjustment is being away from home, starting over with a new team. That's the toughest adjustment, because no matter where you go, basketball is basketball.

This is your first professional experience, right?
Fresh out of college, 22 years old. First professional experience.

I understand you've been "adopted" by an Australian family.
Yep [laughs]. That's my teammate, CJ, and [his wife] Jessica Bruton. They take care of me, look after me. They help me out, show me around, tell me what I need to do, where to go, where not to go...

What's been the best piece of motherly and fatherly advice they've given you?
Shit, I dunno [laughs]...probably to take care of myself and not to get caught up in the partying and the women.

When you first arrived in Australia you weren't really known as a great three-point shooter, now teams are really crowding you at the three-point line. Is that a part of your game that you've been concentrating on improving?
It's something I've worked on, to become a better three-point shooter. It really was a part of my game that was lacking, and I needed to improve it to get to the next level, because the top next level guards are all great shooters.

Did you feel any pressure when you got signed by the Kings, a team who were coming off their first title, and you're replacing the MVP of the league?
It ain't no pressure. You just go out there and play. It's all about having fun and doing your job, it's not about pressure. There's pressure on everyone on the team, not just me. The pressure is to win a championship. I don't care if your team is 4-15, 20-0, 15-4, the pressure is to win the championship.

When you were first offered the chance to play basketball in Australia, what was the first thought that popped into your head?
When my agent said "Sydney", I thought it would be a nice place to be because most people get caught playing in a small town. I've got a few teammates who are in France. They don't really like it there, they say the people are rude. The people here are all nice. I've got the opportunity to come to a pretty good place.

Who would you put in a NBL dunk comp?
[silence]

Yourself?
I probably wouldn't.

Why not?
I'm not a dunker [laughs]. Yeah, I'll go in it.

You can't think of three other people to go in it?
Nah.

POUR SOME SUGAR ON ME

Some more rock flavour! Pour Some Sugar on Me by Wonderous and Paul Wall doesn't just sample the Def Leppard track of the same name - it's basically them rapping over the instrumental. FUN FACT: The drummer in Def Leppard, Rick Allen, only has one arm. Kids, if your career that makes you trillions of dollars needs you to have both arms, then racing your Corvette Stingray on New Year's Eve can only lead to tears.

NBA SLAM DUNK COMPETITION - DWIGHT HOWARD

Dwight Howard is quite possibly my new favourite player in the NBA. His Superman dunk was the highlight of NBA All-Star Saturday (and then dropping a "YOOOOOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU" in the post-dunk interview), with Gerald Green's cupcake dunk a close second.

If you didn't see the dunk comp, look closely at the back of the rim - he just blew the candle on that cupcake out. Insanity.

And since you asked, I think Kevin Durant's shoes were the highlight of the Rookie-Sophomore game on Friday.

NBA ALL-STAR CELEBRITY GAME - TERRELL OWENS

Dude can get up! No word on whether or not Isiah Thomas offered him a max contract to play for the New York Knicks after watching him in the NBA All-Star Celebrity Game at the 2008 NBA All-Star Weekend.

Thanks to my favourite Dominicano Mercer5 for the gif

Here's a list of why T.O. should be everyone's favourite NFL player (jacked from Wikipedia, of course).
  • While playing the Atlanta Falcons on January 9, 1999, Owens caught a long touchdown pass and proceeded to mimic the "dirty bird", the Falcons’ signature touchdown dance. However, Owens performed a slashing of the throat gesture at the end of the dance, which quickly silenced the crowd.

  • On September 24, 2000 in Dallas, Terrell Owens showed off his excitement after his two touchdown catches by running from the endzone to midfield and celebrating on the Dallas Cowboys' famous star logo. The second time Owens made a trip to the star, then Cowboys safety George Teague hit him during the celebration, sending him sprawling to the turf. Teague would be ejected for his actions, while Owens was suspended for a week by his head coach and was fined $24,000 which was equal to a week's pay.

  • During a Monday Night Football game against the Seattle Seahawks on October 14, 2002, Owens pulled a Sharpie marker out of his sock to sign the football he caught to score a touchdown, and then gave the ball to his financial adviser, who was in the stands.

  • On December 15, 2002, In a home game against the Green Bay Packers, Owens scored a touchdown and ran to a row of cheerleaders beyond the endzone. He reached out and asked to borrow two pompoms from a 49ers cheerleader, which he then playfully shook, doing his own brief spontaneous routine before dropping them to the ground.

  • The Bird Dance "The Bird" became T.O's trademark dance with the Eagles. In the 2004 season, the Birdheadz (The Original 'Ol Head, Whey Cooler and DJ Holland) a local Philadelphia group came up with a song called "Flying with the Birdz, Do the Bird" during the Eagles 2003 playoff run. T.O. did the Bird Dance all that season after a big play or TD. During the Super Bowl New England players mocked Owens' Bird Dance during their celebrations. It was also mocked before by the Pittsburgh Steelers in their victory over the Eagles earlier in the season.

  • He imitated and mocked the trademark pre-game ritual dance of Baltimore Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis after scoring a touchdown while playing against the Ravens in the 2004 season.

  • After catching a touchdown from Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb during a game in Cleveland, Owens ran through the end zone and tore down a hand-made sign which read, "T.O. has B.O.".

  • After scoring his 100th career touchdown in Philadelphia, he pulled a towel from his waist, folded it over his arm, and then placed the football in the palm of his hand, holding it over his shoulder and pretending to serve it up to the opposing team like a waiter would present a meal.

  • After scoring a touchdown against the Chicago Bears in 2004, Owens celebrated by doing six sit-ups in the end zone, one for each touchdown he had scored at that point in the 2004 season.

  • After catching a touchdown against the Washington Redskins on November 5, 2006, Owens pretended to take a nap, using the football as a pillow. The Cowboys were penalized 15 yards for "excessive celebration". Days before the game, Owens was reported to have a habit of falling asleep during team meetings.

  • On the Thanksgiving Day game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on November 23, 2006, Owens, after catching a pass for a touchdown, dropped the ball in an oversized Salvation Army Red Kettle, donating the ball to the Salvation Army. (Since 1997, the Dallas Cowboys Thanksgiving Day game halftime show has traditionally started the Salvation Army's Red Kettle Christmas Campaign.) About the touchdown celebration, Owens was quoted as saying, "That was my donation. I hope it's worth as much as the fine."

  • On September 16, 2007, Owens mocked Bill Belichick after catching a touchdown against the Miami Dolphins, by hiding behind a field goal post and holding the football to his face in a video camera fashion, as if secretly spying and filming the game. The Cowboys were penalized 15 yards for "excessive celebration". On September 19, 2007, the league fined Owens $7,500 for the celebration. According to Owens, he was only fined because he used the ball as a prop.

  • On November 4, 2007 against his former team, the Philadelphia Eagles, Owens flapped his wings, mimicking the action done by fans during Fly, Eagles Fly, the Eagles' fight song. This, coupled with Owens' tumultuous stay with the Eagles and his current tenure with the Cowboys (an Eagles division rival), earned the boos of the crowd. Prior to the game, Owens was quoted as saying, "There's a lot of love in those boos."

LIONEL RICHIE VS JAY-Z - ALL NIGHT ENCORE

Here's the second mashup I promised - Lionel Richie vs Jay-Z, All Night Encore by DJ Emagine. Like I said in my previous post, it's like a triple mashup as it's the Jay-Z vs Linkin Park version of Encore (Numb/Encore) that's used, so technically it should be Lionel Richie vs Jay-Z vs Linkin Park, All Numb Encore. Hot track though, bit different but different in a good way!

BROOKLYN SOUL - HELLO BROOKLYN

Got a few mashups coming your way now. First one isn't technically a mashup, but it's close enough. Taken from the Brooklyn Soul mixtape hosted by Mick Boogie, this is the Hello Brooklyn remix featuring Lil Wayne. The remix is produced by a couple of guys named Shuko and The Gunna. It's basically the Hello Brooklyn track on the Marvin Gaye Sexual Healing beat, damn it sounds good though. The next track (I'll post it shortly) is another Jay-Z mash - technically it's a mashup of a mashup. My head hurts just thinking of that.

UNCLE LUKE - PARENTAL ADVISORY

That's Luke second from the right

Luther "Uncle Luke" Campbell is one of my all-time favourite people. I've got every 2 Live Crew album on cassette, CD and vinyl and I'm trying to pick up every Luke's Freakshow DVD. Quite simply, I wish I was him. Now he's got a reality show coming out on VH1 and it better be shown in Australia. From allhiphop.com's news alerts:

"Pioneering Hip-Hop mogul Luther Campbell is bringing his unique lifestyle and brand of entertainment to VH1 in the form of a new reality show titled Parental Advisory. Slated for a July 2008 premiere on the network, the hour-long series follows Campbell as he balances life with his children and fiancĂ©e, spends time at the office producing various adult themed content and traveling the country with beautiful women as "Uncle Luke" Campbell. "Parental Advisory showcases the diversity in my life," Campbell told AllHipHop.com. "One day I am with my kids, the next day I am in the office auditioning ‘Luke Girls’ and the next day I might be out on the road." Parental Advisory is being produced in conjunction with Campbell’s new company, the Luke Entertainment Group (LEG), which publicly trades on the NASDAQ pink sheets."

Check out the youtube video below for more about Uncle Luke.

HOUSTON ANTHEM

This is an older track (but not old like those wack anthems Return of the Mack or This is How We Do It, I'm talking mid-2007 old) but this is a brand new blog so that's my excuse as to why I'm only getting this track up now. Another sleeper hit at XO, Houston Anthem by Filthy featuring Paul Wall is a club classic and a DJ Leon Smith classic. Even though I can't stand the Houston Rockets, I'm a big fan of this track here.

LOOK BACK AT ME

My intention was never to post only smutty tracks, but it seems like I'm going down that path right about now! This new track by Trina featuring Killer Mike Look Back at Me smashes the Khia and Three 6 Mafia tracks in terms of smut. We all know what to expect when you hear Trina on the mic but even I was shocked with the lyrics to this one - I'm not even going to type out a sample lyric because I don't want my site to be flagged as "adult content only".

I'D RATHER

This track is going to appear on every music blog and DJ's site pretty soon as their hot new song. Brand new one from Three 6 Mafia and DJ Unk called I'd Rather and it's up there with the Khia track in terms of how explicit it is. And it's explicitly awesome.

WHAT THEY DO

Khia gets a lot of grief for being a one-hit wonder with My Neck, My Back (and to be honest, I prefer the Too $hort version My Dick, My Sack (no Brokeback)), but her new single What They Do featuring Gucci Mane is going to be a massive club hit. HUGE. And it might have the best hook in the history of music.

What they do, what they do
They get drunk and they get loose
Mix that Goose with Absolut
Then they turn to prostitutes

You will hear this at XO every week for the next seven years!

PUT IT IN DA AIR

OK, this is the track I mentioned before as what was arguably the biggest hit at XO in 2007. If you've been to XO before you might not know what it's called or who it's by, but you'd know the track, I can guarantee it. It's called Put It In Da Air by KB aka Mr Wired Up and Wonderous. The hook samples Yung Joc and it's hotter than the license plate on Doc Brown's DeLorean.

UGGHH!! (THIS GONE BE NASTY) REMIX

Check out this track by Streetz & Young Deuces feat. Young Texxus, Spark Dawg & Polow Da Don called Ugghh!! (This Gone Be Nasty) remix. It's one of the hottest tracks I'm dropping every week at XO right now. More hot tracks to come soon, including the ultimate XO/Leon Smith anthem of 2007.
