It'll feel weird working on a Friday night again, Sydney hasn't had a quality Friday (that's not targeted at one group of people or an old school night) in aaaaages. See you there!

We don't have local guests on all that often at XO, but Tee has been at the top of the list for a while! Make sure you check her out at XO this Saturday - Snoop demands it.

While it is the XO podcast, we can't forget 24K launching this Friday night! Sorry about the lack of posts recently, been doing a lot of promo for 24K (radio, online, designing flyers, etc) but still making sure we don't forget XO. Now I know how a it feels to be a parent with two kids. Well not really, but you know what I'm saying. This week at XO - special guest DJ Flygirl Tee and official launch of The Game's L.A.X. album. This week at 24K - it's the damn grand opening! Remember, if you want hookups to either XO or 24K, just email here for XO guestlist or here for 24K guestlist.
Hopefully you realised that the cartoon in the middle isn't actually me - it's Ben Affleck. What's up Ben, hope to see you at XO soon and we can bond like the two virile, heterosexual Anglo-Irishmen that we are. Oh, almost forgot there's an XO podcast this week as well and it's dope. XO guestlist here. And don't forget to get yourself on the 24K guestlist for the VIP launch Friday August 29!
First of all, check out the XO podcast banner above - M.I.A., Katy Perry and an old school press pic of me standing in front of the Harbour Bridge. Pimpin'! Special 13-track podcast as well, bonus track going out a true musical legend. XO guestlist here.
Damn damn damn damn damn. Even though that fruity club scrambled his brain, Isaac Hayes was still the man. If you're under 30, odds are you probably know him as either the voice of Chef in South Park or the club owner in Hustle & Flow. Oh and to the actors who starred in this movie, I'd stay away from any risky activities. Like leaving your house.
This sucks. I found out while I was DJing last night (damn you Blackberry and your always-connected email service) and it bummed me out. Why do the cool actors have to die before the lame ones?
Here's one of the boxes of New Era caps we're giving away at XO tomorrow night. Luckily they sent me a couple for myself and the XO DJs or I'd have to steal these! Just jokes, just jokes.
Even though I'm a fan of the relatively uncool Concealer range of New Era caps, I still rock the straight brims on occasion and can appreciate that New Era are kicking the crap out of every other cap company on the planet. So of course they chose XO as the club they wanted to do their first Australian party at. Get down there this week for your chance to score some exclusive lids!
In hip-hop, there's sampling and then there's SAMPLING. Some producers flip a sample so you have no idea where it came from, and then you've got the opposite end of the spectrum - this track Life Goes On by Scar Dirty (produced by Hound Productions) is essentially a hip-hop cover version of John Cougar Mellencamp's Jack and Diane (that's JCM to the right, in case you were wondering). I'm not hating though, it actually sounds good!
This 2008 US Olympic hoops team should never, ever, ever be mentioned in the same breath as the 1992 Dream Team. Last night against Australia they showed that they're weak. Very weak. Neil Turner weak. And if the NBA Finals didn't close the door on the Kobe/Jordan comparisons, this should slam the door closed (and weld it shut - and yes it was only one game, but Kobe has had too many of these, while MJ had exactly none). While I was watching the game I was also in a US-based hoops chatroom to see what the Yanks were saying, and all the excuses about why Australia were keeping the game close were quite amusing - "it's only an exhibition", "we're not even trying", "it's hard to play your best against lesser teams". This is the reason why the US gets spanked internationally now! And conversely, it's also the reason why the 1992 team was so pimp - even against teams like Angola every player gave 100 per cent and wanted to make sure they won and won well. This 2008 team wants to coast through the game, jacking hideous shots, going one-on-five, then magically trying to turn it on when they have to. (Maybe they were saving their energy for after the game.)
The "white out" week continues! Apparently there's something wrong with the XO podcast server that sends it out to your iPods via iTunes, so you lucky blog readers are the only ones who have been getting your fix the last two weeks. Here's this week's 12 tracks of fury (well, 11 tracks of fury and one from Danity Kane). Want to get into XO for free? Email here
