THE FINAL XO! ...AT HUNTER BAR

Breaking the news to people that this Saturday is the "last XO" is always fun, because generally they have a panic attack and don't know what they're going to do on a Saturday night anymore - until I add the part "at Hunter Bar".

That's right, this Saturday is the last XO @ Hunter Bar! We have something big in the works so I'll be dropping hints here on the blog about XO's next move in the next few days... I'm sneaky like that!

Gorilla Zoe to the rescue! DJ Carl Alley hooked me up with this track while I was in internet purgatory, and the way he described it I originally had no idea if I'd like it or hate it. "It's like electro, kinda techno, different baseline, very uptempo, but perfect for Bada Bing," was the first part of the description, then he added, "and it's about girls who like girls". Sold! Listen to Gorilla Zoe I Like Girls below, and then come to XO tonight and Bada Bing on Sunday to hear it again and again.

BROOKLYN WE GO HARD REMIX

Should I tell you the track DJ Rob Dinero messed around with to create this crazy remix of Brooklyn We Go Hard by Santogold and Jay-Z? The picture to the right is an obvious clue - it's the Beastie Boys of course, so it shouldn't be too hard to guess what track of theirs has been used to breathe some new life into the favourite track of hipster hip-hop fans all over the world.

DON'T BREAK MY HEART

What a great track to get back into the swing of things on the blog! Carrying on with the tradition of hip-hop tracks with strange samples that I love, listen to the chorus of B.o.B.'s Don't Break My Heart - it's that "Build me up buttercup" song! I think it's by the Foundations but I might be wrong. The main place I remember it from is the end credits of There's Something About Mary. Have you seen my baseball?
