ANTE UP @ THE BURDEKIN SAT JUNE 4

Remember the last Ante Up? I haven't stopped gushing about it (no Cytheria) since I played there. It's on again on Saturday June 4, the theme on the Facebook event page is "BIG", but it's also a birthday party for Ante Up team member Tristan, and the theme for his birthday is "Cowboys and Indians". Being 6'6", I've already got the "BIG" thing sorted, how do I handle the cowboys/indians thing though?

Easily one of my most fun gigs ever. EASILY. Unfortunately at the moment, most R&B/hiphop clubs are run with one musical policy - "keep it commercial". Ante Up is the complete antithesis of that - playing commercial tracks would get you bottled there. Well maybe not bottled, but you'd definately cop a nasty glare from across the dancefloor. Actually, you'd probably get bottled.

ANTE UP @ THE BURDEKIN SAT APRIL 23

I've always wanted to play at Ante Up AND I've always wanted to play at the Burdekin for two entirely different reasons. Ante Up, because they play great music there (ie. the promoter's instructions to you are simply: "go nuts") and nights like that are hard to find. The Burdekin, because that's where I bought my turntables from 14 years ago! Yep, bought them second-hand (refurbished) from there - so since then every time I'd walk past that spot I'd get a tingly sensation in my loins. So get down there this Saturday for some good hiphop! I'm on from midnight.
